Congratulations to the winner of the 2018 Stella Kupferberg Memorial Short Story PrizeRachel Engelman for her story “Joan of Arc Sits Naked in her Dorm Room.”

The story was chosen by guest judge, author Jess Walter, and can be read on Electric Literature and will be performed and recorded live at Selected Shorts at Symphony Space on June 6, 2018

We are also happy to share our two semi-finalists: “The Whirlpool Duet” by Becky Ellis, and “Make Yourself at Home” by Clarke Levidiotis

Thank you all for entering and taking the time to write such great stories!  We’ll have details about the 2019 writing contest later this summer.

The Stella Kupferberg Memorial Short Story Prize is a writing competition sponsored by Selected Shorts. This long-running series at Symphony Space in New York City celebrates the art of the short story by having stars of stage and screen read aloud the works of established and emerging writers. Selected Shorts is recorded for Public Radio and heard nationally.
