The Stories of Alice Munro
Selected Shorts is thrilled to celebrate the winner of the 2013 Nobel Prize in Literature. Alice Munro's rich stories divulge the vengeful undersides of human nature and bring to life the small-town joy and despair of her native Ontario, in collections including Dance of the Happy Shades; Runaway; and Hateship, Friendship, Courtship, Loveship, Marriage. She is beloved by her readers, among them fellow writer Jeffrey Eugenides, who calls her "the most savage writer I've ever read, also the most tender the most honest, the most perceptive." and Lorrie Moore, who says "fate and time and love are the things she is most interested in, as well as their unexpected outcomes."
Event includes stellar performances of Munro's work by Holly Hunter and Amy Ryan (Gone Baby Gone and The Office). Remarks from long-friend Margaret Atwood, admirer Adam Gopnik (The New Yorker, Paris to the Moon), and editor Charles McGrath (The New York Times, The New Yorker).
Alice Munro will join the event via Google+ Hangout in a conversation with Margaret Atwood. Click here to watch the hangout.
