Summer Reading – Roz Chast Edition
Summer Reading 2012 – Roz Chast
All year long at Symphony Space, where Shorts is staged, we’re lucky enough to host evenings with some of the best writers of our time. Now summer is here, the stage is dark and Mad Men is over, so we thought we’d ask some of our favorite writers to share what they are reading, what they recommend, what they plan to get their hands on.
In February, New Yorker cartoonist Roz Chast hosted a very, very funny night of Shorts. She not only introduced several stories she picked, but also did a slide show of her work which had the audience howling. I’ve included my favorite from the evening:

Here’s what’s on Roz’s list:
Middlemarch by George Eliot. I’ve never read it before and have been wanting to for a long time. I downloaded it for free on my iPad.
The Age of Miracles by Karen Thompson Walker. The reviews sounded interesting.
Canada by Richard Ford. I love Richard Ford. (Blogger’s note – Richard Ford will be hosting a night of Shorts March 13, 2013 at Symphony Space.)
I think Middlemarch is going to take a while, so it will probably be only three books for me.
