What a Friday! Before we post about this weekend’s show, we have some news from the Shorts casting office.

Joining us for Geraldine Brooks Presents The Best American Short Stories 2011 will be Mamie Gummer, Cristin Milioti and Deardorf/Peterson Group. Joining us for Zadie Smith and Colm Toibin in April is Alec Baldwin.

Mamie Gummer most recently starred in ABC’s Off the Map, she played the role of Sally Adams in the HBO mini-series John Adams, has appeared on CBS’ The Good Wife and was on Broadway as part of Les Liaisons Dangereuses.

This season, all of our stage performances at Symphony Space will feature a commissioned short story. For BASS 2011, we commissioned a story from Juan Martinez and it will be performed by Cristin Milioti. You may remember Cristin from last season on 30 Rock where she played comedian Abby Flynn, Liz Lemon’s foil.

On the radio, you’ll notice that we have new theme music! It’s performed by the Deardorf/Peterson Group. They will also be performing our new theme “That’s the Deal” at BASS 2011.

Finally, our good friend Alec Baldwin will join us on stage on April 25 for Zadie Smith and Colm Toibin. Most recently, Alec performed a Colson Whitehead storyon our New York, Lost and Found special.
